To generate buzz for the campaign launch, a video was premiered to share the harsh truth of inhumane dog training methods (including choking, punching, and kicking the animals)—pet owners coming forward to expose the unseen abuse behind the pet training industry became a rude awakening to the pet community. A second film was launched soon after, in collaboration with Forsman &amp; Bodenfors Singapore, demonstrating the impact electric shock collars have by having Singapore’s “strongest” humans wear them on a 4,500-voltage. The shocks left them all wincing in pain, ouch. With the support garnered from the masses, the campaign received over 1,150 pledges by pet caregivers in Singapore to choose humane animal training methods. 15 signatures were also collected from key organisations including Wildlife Reserves Singapore, Singapore Veterinary Association, and other animal shelters. — Starting conversations, creating debates. The fastest way to gain traction on social media? Influencers/KOLs. The team sought strategic partnerships with key animal-lover/pet owner/pet influencers to share an interactive instagram stories kit. This alone created over 4 days of hype and engagement. Best part? All pro-bono. What better way to educate the public than getting professionals in the industry to host free webinars? In line with the campaign, pet care and training webinars were organised for World Animal Day 2020 which ran over the span of two weeks. The webinars garnered over 2,383 live viewers. Refusing to stop at just digital platforms (an inevitable situation due to the pandemic), we ran an offline Harness-Exchange event that allowed pet caregivers to give up their&nbsp;aversive training tools for a harness. The lucky pets had the opportunity to be individually fitted by experts, and owners had short training sessions where their queries were addressed.A total of 54 pet caregivers received a harness, which was endorsed and co-sponsored by Shopee, Singapore’s top visited e-commerce site. I capitalized on our daily happenings such as rescues, clinic surgeries, and adoption features, which raked up the bulk of our engagement. By doing so, not only were we providing insights into what goes on behind the scenes (creating more trust as a brand), it also captured a tremendous amount of attention from news outlets. Additionally, by constantly building connections and rapport with reporters, journalists, and publicists, I increased our opportunities for collaborative features and outreach ideas. We had an average of 22 media features per month, with common agencies including Mothership, Mustsharenews, Channel News Asia (CNA), and Singapore Press Holdings (SPH). Our animals don’t need a makeover... but our social media sure did.To ensure that the stories were getting the clicks and likes to increase engagement, I refreshed the overall visuals of our pages. Moving away from the typical “shelter-blur-and-pixelated” style, I opted for a more “social-media-worthy” look. talking, so I let the animals take the lead.Reaching out to the animal-loving community is, without a doubt, a valuable resource when it comes to generating content. Petfluencers are on the rise after all!I ran at least one small interactive campaign every 3 months, allowing followers to feel more connected to the organisation.One such campaign was our “Animal Takeover” Instagram Stories session. I did a 4 hours live-story that had our animals spilling “secrets” to the followers - the interaction allowed us to converse with the public more personally whilst answering questions that are often over-scripted.The campaign itself saw a 113% increase in engagement rates. Even animal shelters are keeping up with the times! What is social media engagement without keeping up with the trend? With the rise of short-form video content, I had to get on the reels bandwagon. Animal Action Grant became our USP for the symposium. With up to $1,000 per project, it was an opportunity for students to kick-start their journey into the animal welfare scene. By choosing to make grant applications open only to participants who attended the talk, it acted as an incentive for audiences to attend. Connecting with 209 schools in Singapore, we encouraged students to sit in the talks for inspiration on their project.The grant worked as a great incentive and call-to-action for our participants, with each selected team individually attached to a mentor from the SPCA. 7 youth projects were chosen in the end, with topics revolving around raising awareness on animal welfare issues: Companion Animals, Cruelty-free Lifestyle, Wildlife, and more. The projects are still ongoing. We had everyone talking about local and non-local animals.To make things more compelling for our listeners, we reached out to a range of international organisations to cover a broad range of topics, including subjects that are not commonly discussed locally. Organisations includedAnimal Concerns Research &amp; Education Society (ACRES), Animal &amp; Veterinary Service (AVS), Cat Welfare Society (CWS), Fish Welfare Initiative (FWI), House Rabbit Society Singapore (HRSS), Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS), World Animal Protection (WAP), and of course SPCA Singapore themselves. I spearheaded the entire design to create materials for the event, including logo, brand graphics, content and outreach materials, website, prints, and merchandise. A wide range of animals was illustrated to ensure inclusivity of all types of creatures - domestic, farm, wildlife. With her bubbly personality and love for cooking, Nadirah wanted something that could convey the authenticity of her brand while still having it seen as a source of comfort food. My response was an icon reflection of her and her dumplings (designed after her gyoza’s signature crisp folds) in a warm colour palette of red, beige, and mustard, her favourite colour.
